Alright, Pistons nation, let’s talk. We’ve been through the ringer, haven’t we? We’ve seen the highs and the lows, the rebuilds and the heartbreaks. But right now, we’re witnessing something special. We’re watching our Detroit Pistons climb back to the top of the Eastern Conference, and it’s all thanks to the incredible one-two punch of Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren. And you know what? It’s about damn time the rest of the league took notice. It’s time to get our boys to the All-Star game.

The Floor General: Cade Cunningham’s MVP-Caliber Season
Let’s start with our leader, our floor general, our number one pick. Cade Cunningham is not just playing like an All-Star; he’s playing like an MVP candidate. The man is putting up 26.6 points per game, good for 11th in the entire league, and he’s dishing out a ridiculous 9.7 assists per game, which is second only to Tyrese Haliburton. You heard me right. Second in the entire NBA. He’s the engine that makes this whole thing go, and he’s doing it with a quiet confidence and a killer instinct that we haven’t seen in a Pistons uniform in a long, long time.

I know what some of you are thinking. “But Mike, he made the All-Star team last year!” And you’re right. He did. He was the first Piston to do it since 2019, and it was a huge moment for our franchise. But this year is different. This year, he’s not just an All-Star. He’s a superstar. He’s leading the number one team in the Eastern Conference, and he’s doing it with a maturity and a poise that’s beyond his years. He’s not just putting up empty numbers on a bad team. He’s winning. And in this league, winning is what matters.

Just look at his recent game against the Heat. 31 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. That’s not just an All-Star stat line. That’s a
superstar stat line. That’s the kind of performance that puts the league on notice. And it’s time for the voters to give him the respect he deserves.

The Beast in the Paint: Jalen Duren’s Dominant Rise
Now, let’s talk about the big fella. The man in the middle. The beast in the paint. Jalen Duren has been an absolute revelation this season. At just 22 years old, he’s transformed himself from a promising young talent into a dominant force in this league. He’s averaging a monster 17.9 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, which puts him at 6th in the NBA in rebounding. And he’s doing it with an insane level of efficiency, shooting 63.3% from the field (6th in the NBA) and boasting a true shooting percentage of 70%. That’s just absurd.

But it’s not just the numbers. It’s the impact. Duren is the anchor of our defense, which is currently ranked 4th in the entire league. He’s a rim-protecting machine, and he’s not afraid to get physical with anyone who comes into his paint. He’s the perfect complement to Cade’s perimeter game, and their pick-and-roll chemistry is already one of the best in the league. In fact, Duren has finished more at-rim shots off Cunningham passes than any other two-man combo in the NBA. That’s not a coincidence. That’s a sign of a special connection.

Last year, Duren was a solid role player, averaging around 12 and 10. This year, he’s a star. He’s a guy who can take over a game on both ends of the floor, and he’s a huge reason why we’re sitting at the top of the East. He’s not just a double-double threat anymore. He’s a game-changer. And it’s time for him to get his first All-Star nod.

The Verdict: It’s a No-Brainer
Look, I know I’m a Pistons fan. I’m biased. But the numbers don’t lie. The standings don’t lie. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren are two of the best players in the Eastern Conference, and they’re the driving force behind the number one team in the East. If that doesn’t scream “All-Star,” I don’t know what does.

So let’s do our part, Pistons nation. Let’s get out there and vote. Let’s show the world what we already know: that Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren are not just the future of the Detroit Pistons. They’re the present. And they’re both deserving of a spot in the 2026 NBA All-Star Game.
